The latest incarnation of day-long music festival Dot To Dot returns to Bristol tomorrow (Saturday, May 29), with more than 50 bands and DJs playing across six venues between 1pm and 4pm.
Lineup highlights include Ellie Goulding (Academy, 8.45pm), Mystery Jets (Academy, 10.15pm) and Zane Lowe (Academy, 1am). But it’s not all about the bands you’ve heard of: there are so many to discover at throughout the day at the Cooler, Thekla, Fleece, Louisiana and, for the first time this year, the Anson Rooms.
One of the joys is being in a sweaty venue with the lights down loving a new band, and then stumbling out into the light realising that it’s barely lunchtime and there’s a whole day of discoveries ahead. On Sunday, the lineup switches to Nottingham and then decamps to Manchester on Monday.
A £35 wristband gets you entry to all the gigs, and the right to roam Bristol’s streets. The area outside the Thekla acts as the centre of operations and this year will once again be hosting the magnificent Brothers cider bar.
