Preview: Stokes Croft StreetFest

This Saturday, May 22, sees the first ever Stokes Croft StreetFest, a one-day celebration of the unique nature of Stokes Croft and what it is that makes Bristol’s Cutural Quarter so special.

As befits its home, the festival will comprise of an eclectic mix of events and activities in the area’s open spaces such as the Bear Pit and King Square. During the daytime, there wil be performances, street theatre, art installations, indoor and outdoor markets and live music from bands including Kid Carpet and Miss Cecily.

The festival will continue long into the night, with every venue in Stokes Croft joining in the afterparty fun, organised by some of Bristol’s best club nights at Lakota, Blue Mountain, Attic, Junction, Croft, Left Bank and Canteen.

The daytime activities, midday to 6pm are free. A wristband to all venues taking part in the nocturnal shenanigans costs £5 advance or £7 on the door.

A festival spokesman said: “Our intention is an accessible and enjoyable, multi cultural experience for people of all ages bringing the area’s varied communities together to raise the reputation of Stokes Croft, and to create an enduring legacy, improving both the physical environment and the public perception of this fascinating and unique part of our city.”
