A new restaurant that will only be open for a few days is coming to Bristol at the end of this month.

Not much information is known about who is behind temporary rebel restaurant Cloak and Dinner, apart from this brief synopsis on their website: “We are a Bristol-based collective of amateur and professional chefs, waiter/esses, bartenders, artists, actors and creatives, inspired by food and disappointed by the pretence and price-tag necessary for a great eating-out experience in Bristol.

“Eating out combines a sense of occasion, the company of friends and that revered of sensory experiences – eating delicious food. Doing it well costs the earth – why? – ingredients are flown for miles, staff have to get paid, bosses have to make profit, and someone’s gotta pay the rent… But it’s January and the recession continues so we decided to screw all that, take a building, work for free, source food as locally as possible and put on a one-off restaurant experience for you, priced at whatever you want to donate!”

If everything goes according to plan, the restaurant will open in a city centre location for a deliberately limited lifespan.

Pop-up restaurants in other cities have had no advertising and have been very hard to find, meaning that if you’re not in the loop, by the time you find out about the restuarant it will already have disappeared.
